The Washington Initiative (WAI) is the Seattle branch of an international grassroots volunteer organization known as The Initiative Collective. We exist to empower people to be active members of their community, and to Be Your Own Hero. We do this through conducting regular homeless outreach, picking up used needles, teaching free self-defense classes and more.
